I love wrapping up a year and setting goals for 2018. We’ve been purging our house and making space for a more simplified life. I’m working to make this year one that is more focused on what really matters in my life and the lives of my friends, family and clients. Thank you for making 2017 successful for me with your business and referrals. I look forward to helping you reach your real estate goals in 2018.

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone enjoyed Christmas! I am working all week and am happy to show property to close out 2017!
My family and I took time out of our busy week to learn how others are celebrating the holiday season.
Chanukah (Hanukkah) is the Jewish eight-day, wintertime “festival of lights,” celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers and fried foods. In the second century BCE, the Holy Land was ruled by the Seleucids (Syrian-Greeks), who tried to force the people of Israel to accept Greek culture and beliefs instead of mitzvah observance and belief in G‑d. Against all odds, a small band of faithful Jews, led by Judah the Maccabee, defeated one of the mightiest armies on earth, drove the Greeks from the land, reclaimed the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and rededicated it to the service of God. When they sought to light the Temple's Menorah (the seven-branched candelabrum), they found only a single cruse of olive oil that had escaped contamination by the Greeks. Miraculously, they lit the menorah and the one-day supply of oil lasted for eight days, until new oil could be prepared under conditions of ritual purity. To commemorate and publicize these miracles, the sages instituted the festival of Chanukah. For more fun ways to celebrate online: www.chabad.org/kids/article_cdo/aid/354748/jewish/Chanukah.htm
Las Posadas, (Spanish: “The Inns”) religious festival celebrated in Mexico and some parts of the United States between December 16 and 24. Las Posadas commemorates the journey that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus. Las Posadas is celebrated in cities and towns across Mexico. Each evening during the festival, a small child dressed as an angel leads a procession through the streets of the town. The procession is primarily made up of children dressed in silver and gold robes carrying lit candles and images of Mary and Joseph riding a donkey. Adults, including musicians, follow the procession, which visits selected homes and asks for lodging for Joseph and Mary. Traditionally, the procession is always refused lodging, though the hosts often provide refreshments. At each stop, passages of scripture are read and Christmas carols are sung. Mass is held each day after the procession, and, at the conclusion of the service, children break open piñatas filled with candy, toys, and, occasionally, money. The piñatas are usually crafted in the form of a star, which is said to have guided the three wise men of biblical tradition to the newborn Jesus.

While preparing for your holiday festivities you may want to stop by some of the open houses below.
Enjoy the holiday season!
Holiday preparations are well underway at the Gass Home. I hope you are enjoying all the best this season has to offer. We’ve been making gifts and keeping up with holiday traditions. If you need a little help getting into the spirit, try these Grinch cookies which were a big hit in our family for our annual Grinch night. Disney’s Prep and Landing is one of my favorite Christmas specials and is on this Thursday at 8:30PM on ABC. If home shopping feels like the best way to prepare for 2018, the open house list is below for today as well! Enjoy!
Tis the Season to spread some Christmas cheer...through service & love!
There are many ways to get involved in your community this holiday season. Yesterday, my family and I volunteered at the Foster Kids Christmas Party and then the ParentsCAN Christmas Party for children with special needs. It was a busy day but an amazing experience for everyone involved.
Here are some additional ways to share Christmas cheer:
We have adopted families from the Holiday Assistance Program! You can sign up to purchase food, gifts, or clothing for one of the family members! TOGETHER we can provide Christmas to these families! To sign up, go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e094da5aa2aa0fd0-the12
Please join us on MONDAY, December 18th at 10am at Valley Oak High School for a huge WRAPPING Party!! Bring gifts & food then! If you can NOT join us on the 18th, then please drop items off (clearly labeled) at my office at (1775 Lincoln Ave.) by the 17th!
We will have a blast as we wrap our gifts together...we will then go from Valley Oak to Salvation Army to drop off our food & gifts!
If you know other families who are in need that we can help, please let me know!
Shop with a Cop
On Saturday, December 16th, we will be helping with Shop with a Cop!
Shop With a Cop helps children in need by pairing them with a law enforcement officer to go holiday shopping for their family at Target before the store opens. Each year Shop With A Cop benefits 80-100 children and their families and the gifts are wrapped for the children by community volunteers...like US!
This is such a special event to take part of. I have watched so many of these officers spend money from their own pockets to get these kids exactly what they want for their family members...yes, these kids shop for their families and then they are surprised with a gift of their own at the end!
We will meet at the Big Target at 5:45am! We are usually done by 8am when the store opens!

Holiday Assistance Program
The Napa County Holiday Assistance Program has been in existence for over twenty years providing needy families with food and toys for Christmas. The program is operated by a coalition consisting of Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Queen of the Valley, Toys for Tots, Napa Food Bank, Volunteer Napa and County Family Service organizations. 1300 families with approximately 3000 children have been registered. This is who we adopt families through! However, there is much more work that is needed. This year operations will be conducted at 2721 Corporate Drive, Napa. This is in one of the old Dey Lab buildings.
This is a two story building and the Toy Joy Shop will be located on the second floor. The layout necessitates a lot of walking and climbing stairs to the second floor. Food sorting, boxing and storing will start on December 5, 2017. The majority of toys will start to arrive on December 8, 2017 and Distribution will be on December 16, 2017.
To sign up, go to https://cvnl.galaxydigital.com/aem/general/event/12/?doc_id=4634
I am also planning to make a visit to a Retirement Home to deliver cards and sing Christmas Carols on December 24th if anyone else is interested!
If you & your family have other service ideas & opportunities, please share them with me and in turn, I can share them!
